LICENSED DISPATCHER
AGAINST ALL ODDS
Aviation
has always been my dream career path.
Joining DAS Aviation School as a student, was somewhat like a dream come
true. I still remember the excitement of my first day at DAS, surrounded by
others who shared my enthusiasm for aviation.
I
was often told that the course would be challenging, intense and complex as
many have given up along the journey. I
was captivated with my passion for aviation and I promised myself to fight
tooth and nail to acquire that license against all odds.
The
adventure started with intricacies of flight planning, weather analysis,
aviation rules set by authorities, planning routes, operational coordination,
to name but a few. At first, the sheer amount
of information felt overwhelming, but as I delved deeper into the world of
dispatching, I realized that every topic connected to a bigger picture of
flight safety. After many months of training, the final hurdle was the
licensing exams. The tests included written exams, oral interviews and the
practical part which we do during the internship sessions, simulating
real-world dispatch scenarios.
The
moment I received my passing results, I felt an incredible mix of relief and
pride. I was now officially a Licensed Flight Dispatcher in just one
year. But I quickly realized that earning the license was just the beginning.
The real learning would come from working in the field.
This
sparked my interest in becoming a Flight Operations instructor and DAS Aviation
School accorded me the opportunity. I’ve
learned that becoming an instructor means inspiring students to think
critically, adapt under pressure and embrace the responsibility that comes with
ensuring safe and efficient flight operations, which reminded me of my own
journey.
The
shift from learning to teaching wasn’t just about mastering technical knowledge
- it was about developing leadership, communication and mentorship skills.
Teaching has deepened my understanding of flight operations, as explaining
concepts to others requires clarity and confidence. Each day, I strive to make
complex topics engaging and relatable, just as my instructors once did for me.
I now have the privilege of shaping the next generation of aviation
professionals and I am looking forward to seeing my students grow and succeed
as the most rewarding part of this journey.
Looking
back, I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything, from being a student to a
licensed dispatcher and eventually an instructor. This has been a journey of
growth, learning and new challenges. It
has reinforced my passion for aviation and my commitment to continuous
learning. The skies may be vast, but the greatest fulfillment comes from
guiding others to navigate them with skill and confidence.
